Not So Common: Training Your Employees on Basic Skills and “Common Sense”

  • Valley River Inn 1000 Valley River Way Eugene, OR, 97401 United States (map)

It is a truth universally acknowledged that an employee in possession of a job will confound those around them by their lack of common sense, basic skills, and hygiene.*

Companies are increasingly finding themselves responsible for training employees on basic work habits (such as showing up on time or answering the phone) and “common sense.” In this training we will cover why these issues fall to employers and why this isn’t going to change anytime soon. We will also discuss how to identify topics that employees will need training on and how to legally bring up concerns. Finally, we’ll cover different options for how companies can set very clear instructions and how to offer training on basic skills.
